Beth Jargstorf // La Maestra delle Novizie
Chicago-born soprano, educator, and arts administrator Bethany Jargstorf is currently completing her DMA in Voice Performance with a minor in Applied Intercultural Arts Research at the University of Arizona. At home on both the opera and concert stage, her latest engagements include Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte, UA Opera Theater) and as a soloist in Rautavaara’s Vespers with the Helios Ensemble.
Ms. Jargstorf has performed several leading roles at U of A and abroad in Italy where her recent credits include Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Antonia (Les contes d’Hoffmann), Bellinda (Dido and Aeneas), First Lady (Die Zauberflöte), and Soprano Soloist (Mendelssohn’s Psalm 42). She is a two-time finalist in the Rieman Opera Competition, two-time recipient of the Quest for the Best Scholarship and Summer Study Grant awarded by the Opera Guild of Southern Arizona, and was also a recipient of a Medici Scholar Project Grant from the UA College of Fine Arts.
While pursuing her Master’s degree at U of A, Ms. Jargstorf was a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Applied Voice. She maintains a vibrant home studio in Tucson and serves as a Voice Instructor with the Tucson Girls Chorus. Since 2023, she has acted as Director of Operations for the Tucson Desert Song Festival and as Administrator of the Helios Ensemble and Opera Guild of Southern Arizona since 2025.
Additionally, Ms. Jargstorf is a founding member of Neoteric Chamber Choir, a Tucson-based ensemble devoted to performing the work of living composers, and has participated in the premieres of several works by her colleagues and professors at U of A. She is thrilled to be part of PPO's production of Suor Angelica.
